Prevent Skipping with a Video Game Scratch Fixer

The dawn of the digital age has produced compact media storage devices that are light and easy to use. Storage devices such as CDs and DVDs are used for most media applications — from music files to gaming products — and they replace the cassette or magnetic film as the preferred media storage of choice. But these materials are easily scratched and the files may get infected. The CD or DVD may even ‘jump’ or ‘skip’ when played and cause delays or errors in the system. Gaming fanatics often resort to using a video game scratch fixer as a quick remedy for nasty scratches inflicted on the surface of the CD.

A scratch remover is effective on most scratched services and can be bought at a nearby hardware or electronics store. The 3M CD Scratch Remover Kit can be used on media CDs, DVDs and CD-ROMs by utilizing a two-step process. The repair kit will first remove scratches on the surface to be followed by a special polish that seals the surface. The added protection will help repel dust and dirt to avoid scratches in the future. The same principle applies to car paint, as 3M is popular in the automotive industry as well.

A simple scratch remover could be found in your own home. Toothpaste is often used as a video game scratch fixer and is deemed effective for light, superficial scratches. Banana peel is also utilized as a DVD repair home remedy, but this procedure works on very light surface scratches only. The banana peel contains essential oils that will help fill minor gaps and cracks in the DVD surface and may prevent the damaged disc from skipping.

Brass or metal polish is also an ideal video game scratch fixer and is considered the most effective DIY scratch repair method you can do at home. Remember that this method should be used on severely scratched surfaces or relatively old CDs only. Other media storage devices that contain important files should be first treated with a commercially-available scratch remover kit as the first application is usually enough to erase the scratch.

The Internet is a virtual haven for video game scratch fixer products to help you easily deal with the hassles of a lightly-damaged DVD. Remember that there are specialized products that deal on DVD repair alone and it would be best to compare different products before making the purchase.

3M CD Scratch Remover – Essential for CD and DVD Care

There are various ways on how CDs and DVDs would acquire scratches. The most common culprit is when it is played multiple times. Too much wiping of its surface can also cause such damages. At first, the scratches might seem harmless; but over time, these could cause the disc to skip or not play at all. Buying new discs might seem like the best and most convenient choice, but it can get pretty expensive. A great alternative is to rather opt for CD scratch removal. You can embark on this task on your own with the use of 3M CD scratch remover or similar cleaning kits.

Minor scratches and blemishes on the plastic and protective layer of the disc can be addressed by this CD or DVD disc repair solution. That is, if the scratches on the disc are not too severe. Acquiring the proper techniques apposite the materials used is necessary as well. For example, pressing a 3M buffing pad too hard against the disc can only cause further damages.

As for using the 3M CD Scratch Remover cleaning kit AV-1160, you have to be careful in using each of its contents. It includes a disc cleaner, disc scratch remover solution, disc cleaner solution, and lint-free cleaning cloths. The kit claims to have a convenient two-step CD scratch removal system. First, scratches are removed upon application of the scratch remover solution onto the CD surfaces. Next, the CD can be made dust-repellent upon application of the cleaner solution (works like a coat of polish).

One note upon purchasing this item – it is also known under these name variants: DVD Disk Cleaner & Scratch Remover or Scotch CD and CD-ROM Surface Scratch Remover Kit.

Other 3M polishes that may be of use to you include:

1. 3M MMMAV100 Scotch CD/DVD Disc Cleaner and Spray Bottle Solution – combine the 3M CD Scratch Remover with this material so that even the dust and fingerprints found on the disc surfaces would be removed.

2. 3M MMMCL600 Antistatic Electronic Equipment Cleaner – you should also protect the gadget operating your discs, and this can be of assistance. It is an oil and wax-free aerosol that can be used in removing fingerprints, dirt, grease, and dust forming in and out of electronic equipment.

3. Scotch AV-101 Laser Lens Cleaner – this is specifically designed to be used for CD and DVD players and ROM drives. Proper use of this cleaner is easier as it comes with video and audio instructional guides.

Using 3M CD Scratch Remover and similar materials could be a great way to prolong the life of your discs and players. Then again, this cleaning kit would be useless if your discs are improperly stored or carelessly used.

How to Repair a Scratched Disk

The advent of compact discs has made it easier to have access to music and your favorite records; and while they are relatively durable, it can be quite impossible to prevent them from getting scratches and other marks, especially with frequent use. It can be quite an inconvenience to have scratches on discs especially since it can significantly affect its performance and quality.

Below are some helpful tips to help repair a scratched disk:

You can clean the disc especially if you are having trouble with its quality. Cleaning compact discs from time to time is recommended even if it is not scratched, as various external elements such as oil and fingerprints can prevent it from playing properly and can also reduce its clear quality. If you want to clear scratches from your disc, you can do so by carefully and gently cleaning it with soap and water in a circular motion. Warm water is sometimes recommended to repair scratched disc, especially if it is filled with dust.

Whether your disc is a video game, a music record or a movie, if it does not work, try playing it over and over again. If it still fails to work, then there is a possibility that your player is sensitive to scratches. However, if no other player would accept your scratched disc, then maybe you have to use other means to get it to work.

If you get it to work but it already has too many scratches on it, it may be necessary for you to burn it into another CD, especially if the files are important as you may not be able to get it to work again.

Sometimes, to repair scratched disc, you may have to locate the scratch so that it would be easier for you to figure out how to repair it. Inspect the disc visually so that you can determine how superficial or how bad the scratches are. Keep in mind that the deeper the scratches, the harder it would be to fix it.

Get a burning program and try to get it to repair scratched disc. There are some advanced burning programs that can recover files from a disc that is not readable by any other player. This feature comes in handy especially if you need to retrieve the files. These programs can be downloaded for free while some have to be bought.

Repairing Damaged Discs with the Use of Banana CD Scratch Fix

Scratches on the back of your favorite audio CD or DVD can actually affect the quality of the music, movies or files stored inside it. These scratches make it impossible for your players to read several parts of your CD because they do not have the capacity to regenerate the data you lost from CD scratches.

There are different methods used for scratch repair. Nevertheless, the banana CD scratch fix still ranks as the most effective method for repairing damaged CDs. Instead of using ineffective cd cleaner kits that can only worsen the damage in your discs, try this effective home remedy for cd scratch repair.

Here is how you can fix CD scratches with the use of banana peeling:

Step 1

Before applying banana peel on your CD, you must clean it first and make sure that it is free from dust, oil and other particles. These surface contaminants can hinder discs from playing properly. Hence, it is very important to clean your discs first in order to get the best results from the banana CD scratch fix method.

You can remove the dust and oil from your discs by allowing lukewarm water to run over its damaged side. If there are some grease and dirt that have clung to your discs, rub them with your fingers while you are washing them. You can also use a gentle liquid detergent soap to remove all the dirt from their surface.

When rubbing your CD, always start at the center of the disc. By rubbing them in an outward motion, you can prevent them from acquiring further damage.

Step 2

Open a fresh banana and save its peeling. Rub the banana onto the surface of your CD or DVD in a gentle, circular motion. Make sure to rub every corner of your CD or DVD.

After rubbing your CD or DVD with a banana, use its peeling to rub it again in gentle, circular motions. The wax inside the banana peeling can do a lot to save your broken CD because it can clean the disc and polish it further.

Step 3

Use a cotton cloth to wipe off the residue from the banana CD scratch fix that you have performed. Gently rub it against your CD for about three minutes.

Step 4

Spray some window cleaner to your CD or DVD. Again, use soft cloth to wipe away all the banana residues on its surface.

You can use this CD scratch removal trick to repair both generic and branded CDs or DVDs. Whether you are dealing with a scratched Ritex, SmartBuy, Hewlett-Packard, or Mitsubishi CD, the banana CD scratch fix method will never let you down.

DVD Scratch Repair – Saving your Favorite DVD from Damage

DVD scratch repair is all you need when your disc suddenly starts to stutter or jump while you’re watching a movie. Before you panic, you should know that there are several things you can do about the problem. Remember that the DVD player reads the data in your discs through the laser. When there are scratches, the reading gets interrupted and the disc stops. If the problem is about to frustrate you because of the important data stored in it, here are the DVD scratch repair service you can do.

First Aid

Once your DVD starts to malfunction, eject it from the player and visually check for blemishes on the surface. Use a clean, lint-free optical cloth to wipe the dirt. Cloths used for cleaning eye lenses are advisable, as they do not leave lint on the surface. After manually cleaning the disc, try it again and see if your first aid for DVD scratch remover is effective.

Home Cleaning Solutions

If your DVD scratch repair first aid does not work, then you can get the DVD scratch fixer right from your home. Rubbing alcohol is a good cleaning solution to remove the scratches. Moisten a soft cloth with the compound and rub it in the disc, starting from the center going out on the edge. Rub it lightly in a straight line orientation. Some people recommend the use of toothpaste to clean it. Apply a small amount in the cloth and gently spread it in the surface. However, be extra careful in picking the type of toothpaste you use. Some products contain tiny crystals that can even worsen the problem.

Commercial DVD Scratch Repair

The best DVD scratch repair is commercially available from many stores and online retailers. You can choose from the variety of products available in the market. The Memorex Optifix Pro DVD/CD Motorized Scratch Repair Kit removes dust, dirt, oil, fingerprints, and repair scratches in as fast as 3 minutes. If you have a budget of less than $10, the Allsop 26718 can do the job. The kit contains a lint-free cloth and 0.5 ounce of repair fluid.

Keep in mind that when not in use, the discs should remain in their protective covering. Do not let them stay unprotected like placing them just on top of your player or on the floor or table. After saving your data with the DVD scratch repair, immediately create back-up in case the problem continues.

The compact disc has gained its popularity by its use for recording and packaging movies, burning audio and even saving/storing files from a computer for business and personal use. It is known that the digital data on these discs will not be destroyed or corrupted as with earlier media but over time its quality and performance can be affected. This usually happens when the disks become damaged physically or even if it were to get scratched. With technology there are now devices that can restore the CD to its original condition by removing the scratches; these are known as CD scratch removers.

One very familiar and widely used CD scratch remover is the Disc Doctor. This was invented in Australia approximately twelve years ago, by a past employee of Video Ezy. This device has the capability of polishing, resurfacing and removing fingerprints and scratches from discs. As we can see with the use of a CD scratch remover, the benefits far outweigh its cost as some information it can save may be invaluable.

This can be done in quantities of two at a time. As long as the scratch has not penetrated through the disc then the Disc Doctor can repair it. As a simple scratch in a disc can make it unreadable and can affect what was stored on the disc. Scratches can interrupt laser beams and cause the information at various parts of the file to be unreadable, this is what we normally experience on our CDs as freezing and skipping.

Other types of kits used for removing scratches are the CD Skip Doctor and Kinyo CD cleaner. Despite the fact that their models and probably some on the specs and features may differ, their procedure for the basic use is almost the same.

The following are the basic steps in using any one of these machines:

1. Place the CD in the disc holder upside down. You will need to press it firm into the holder. Depending on the brand of CD scratch removal kit. their design may differ but the procedure will be the same.

2. Locate the non label side of the CD and spray it with the cleaning chemical found in the kit. You can choose to only spray the damaged part of the CD if you want to conserve the solution.

3. Lock it by placing the disc holder firmly into the crank wheel.

4. You want the CD to turn counter clockwise so you have to turn the reversibility lever right. You can choose to turn the crank until the damaged part or scratch part is covered or you can cover the whole CD.

5. Move the switch to the left, spray the CD again. This process needs to be repeated whilst the disc is moving in a clockwise direction.

6. Remove and dry the CD using the drying cloths included in the kit. Using the felt Square, place the CD with its label part down onto the cloth and you can start buffing it in a circular motion. Clean the disc with the cloth.
